e-fill and ISIS team up to run the 100 metres in 6.8 seconds
Fast implementation leads to fulfilment house winning leading apparel client
Melbourne, August 2001 - Microlistics Pty
e-fill, a leading Australian fulfilment house, has teamed up with Microlistics, a leading supply chain execution technology provider, to deliver one of the fastest implementations of a warehouse management system ever recorded. ISIS Express, with a stated feature of 30 day implementations, was up and running in the e-fill Fairfield site in less than 22 days. "In WMS projects, that is the equivalent of running the 100 metres in 6.8 seconds," expressed Stan Bearder, Project Manager, Microlistics.
In early winter, e-fill was presented with an opportunity to win the fulfilment work for Diamond Cut International, a lingerie supplier to Target Stores. The challenge for e-fill was to deliver an extensive range of services at the most competitive price available in the Australian market and to do this in a less than 2 months time. "Our customer (DCI) didn't have the luxury of time and we needed a WMS supplier that could deliver on-time, at the agreed price and be as accommodating as possible to meet their needs", said Brent Hughes CEO of e-fill. e-fill already had the smart logistics processes and organisational capabilities ready to go, what they needed was a fast, flexible and competitively priced WMS to complete the picture and win the work.
Microlistics stepped up to the challenge with ISIS Express, the pre-configured WMS package with sophisticated warehouse functionality built in, and set an aggressive time table for delivery: Within 9 working days the customer was ready to receive stock into ISIS, at day 15 the customer was ready for processing picks and by day 22 a fully operational system was in place and ready to roll. "The reason we were able to deliver this project so efficiently was the teamwork between both e-fill and ourselves" states Mr. Bearder. "Right from the start we had the key people involved and with a blank sheet in front of us, we literally created the procedures together". In addition to fast process design, the team approach also helped prevent common WMS implementations problems from occurring, i.e. unnecessary scope and costs spiraling out of control.
At the end of this sprint, e-fill won the contract and are now servicing the Diamond Cut International account successfully. "The team work that took place between the e-fill and Microlistics project teams over those 22 days shows how 2 organisations can successfully achieve a common goal providing you share a vision. This infrastructure built between e-fill and Microlistics only strengthens the e-fill product offering into the field of garment distribution", said Mr. Hughes.
